Digital Fortress

Digital Fortress by Dan BrownWhen it comes to books, I have high expectations. Digital Fortress is the book written by Dan Brown and it was the last one of his books that I’ve read. And I read all four of them. If you don’t like spoilers, stop reading this review now.

Story started very well developing theme of our modern time and evolving story about something that connects us all: Internet and Privacy. It was interesting to read other people’s point of view and how they feel about their own or someone else’s privacy. As usual, his story evolves around beautiful and smart woman ready to conquer the world. Then she finds a bad guy who turns about to be her boss, which is the exactly same thing that happened in his other book “Deception Point”, so there was no really surprise there.Like any other book, good people win and everything comes to its place. I was just a bit disappointed that I could guess in the middle of the book who the bad guy was, and from thereon, story didn’t interest me anymore. Maybe that’s just me, and maybe somebody else who reads his book doesn’t feel the same way, but I must admit that I have expected more. I like Dan Brown’s stories, I like the fact that he takes time to learn about subject and object of the book, I just wish he wouldn’t use same plot on all of his books.

Out of four of his books, I find Digital Fortress the worst when it comes to development of the story. Actual theme of the book is good, but story could have developed much better. I will still continue reading his books when he publishes them, as he is very easy to read and makes story really interesting. I just hope that next book he writes will be laid out differently. So, other than the fact that I guessed bad guy in the middle of the book, it is very interesting to see how people feel different about privacy, especially when it seems that nothing is private anymore.Â

So much information is shared over the Internet such as family photos and our address, and information is so easily accessible that it makes me wonder: When it comes to privacy, how much do we really care?
